Terms of Service
Rufus — Your Stoic Teacher · Last updated: 5 August 2026
By using Rufus you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short and plain.
What Rufus is
Rufus is a daily philosophy and reflection app. It provides quotations from public-domain translations of Stoic and other classical authors, original reflections, and small daily practices.
What Rufus is not
Rufus is not medical care, therapy, or professional advice — psychological, medical, legal or financial. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. If you are struggling with your mental health, please consult a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services.
Your account and data
Your answers and progress are stored on your own device. You are responsible for the device you use. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it will permanently erase your streaks, saved cards and preferences, and we cannot recover them.
Subscriptions and payment
- Rufus offers a free tier and a paid tier, Rufus Pro.
- Subscriptions are billed through Google Play and are governed by Google's payment terms.
- Where a free trial is offered, you will be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
- To cancel, use the Subscriptions section of your Google Play account. Cancelling stops future charges; it does not refund the current period.
- Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policy.
- We may change prices. Existing subscribers will be notified before any change affects them, and founding-member pricing will be honoured for as long as the subscription remains active.
Acceptable use
Please do not copy, resell or redistribute the app's original reflections and written content, attempt to break or interfere with the service, or use it unlawfully. The quotations themselves are public domain and free for anyone to use.
Intellectual property
The name Rufus, the design, and all original reflections and written content belong to [YOUR LEGAL NAME OR COMPANY]. Quotations are drawn from public-domain translations and are credited to their authors.
Availability
We aim to keep Rufus running but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change or be withdrawn.
Limitation of liability
Rufus is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending these terms
You may stop using Rufus at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend access if these terms are breached.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR STATE/COUNTRY, e.g. the State of Texas, USA].
